- Since my grandfather was a blacksmith and my father a silversmith,I seem to just follow in their footsteps with my jewelery, book-binding, leather-work, and calligraphy.In all these things the Celtic art and design reign supreme.To embellish a functional article or object with a design that stimulates ones cultural heritage is one of the most satisfying things with which to occupy ones time. I'm often reminded of the time that I spent watching my father make things from artillery shells that he salvaged after the war in Holland.
